About temperature conversions
Temperature is one of the most frequently converted measurements worldwide, primarily between Celsius (used in most countries) and Fahrenheit (used in the United States). Unlike most unit conversions, temperature conversions involve both multiplication and addition because the scales have different zero points.
Water freezes at 0°C (32°F) and boils at 100°C (212°F). Normal human body temperature is approximately 37°C (98.6°F). The Kelvin scale starts at absolute zero — the theoretical point where all molecular motion stops — and is used in scientific contexts.
For the international definition, see the NIST reference on SI units of temperature.
